The Termux Monorepo relies on environment variables to configure tasks, agents, and API access. This page documents every known variable, where it is used, and how to set it correctly in a Termux environment.

Task environment variables

The multi-agent system reads these variables when provisioning and running agents. They are typically set before calling run_agent.sh or provision_agent.py.

Fallback mechanism

If TASK_ID is not set, the system falls back to reading current_task.txt in the working directory. Keep this file updated when running agents outside of an explicit task shell.

DeepSeek API configuration

DeepCLI and the DeepSeek proxy require API credentials. Store your key securely and never commit it to git. Set it in your shell profile or a local .env file that is listed in .gitignore:
DeepCLI also uses the .deepcli/ directory in your home folder for session storage and configuration. Do not commit this directory.

Python dependencies

Install the core Python dependencies before running any monorepo tool:
The base requirements include:
  • curl-cffi (HTTP requests with browser-like TLS)
  • requests (standard HTTP client)
  • websockets (real-time communication)

Node.js dependencies

The Cedar MCP server and other Node-based tools in termux-multi-agent/ require Node.js. Install dependencies with:

Configuration checklist

Install Python deps

Run pip install -r requirements-base.txt in the monorepo root.

Set the DeepSeek key

Export DEEPSEEK_API_KEY or create a local .env file.

Initialize the agent database

Run cd termux-multi-agent && python run.py to create the agent tables.

Export task variables

Set TASK_ID, REFACTOR_GOAL, TARGET_FILE, and TASK_WORKSPACE before dispatching work.
